Announcing ... Holiday Mini Sessions

Summer is slowly coming to an end and I have had already had many requests for my fall/holiday mini sessions so here they are... I am doing them this fall in three cities (New York, Chatham and Darien) so send me an email to reserve a space. These are the only ones I am doing this year. I am including 10 high-resolution digital photos on a DVD which means it will be no problem for you to pick that amazing photo for your holiday card. If you book by September 6th you will receive 25 free custom holiday cards. Because of limited availability, sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. I can't wait to see you! **Please forward along to anyone who you think might be interested**

I always try to talk clients into doing their shoots close to sunset because of the gorgeous golden light that shines upon them. This is a prime example of how amazing the sun is. Can you believe this beautiful girl is only 14!?! So nice to meet you Krista.

capilano suspension bridge | north vancouver, bc

The Capilano Suspension Bridge is not for the faint at heart. I had not been since grade-school so it was only fitting to take my children and the cousins there this summer. It really is an amazing experience walking across the bridge 450 feet and looking 230 feet down to the Capilano River. They have recently built a Treetop Adventure where you walk along seven suspension bridges 100 feet up through amazing Douglas fir trees. And to add to your heart palpitations there is a brand new Cliffwalk which has you walking around the treetops on glass suspension bridge. I can understand why this is one of Vancouver's top attractions!

For the longest time I have wanted to go back to visit the Museum of Anthropology at UBC and I thought doing a shoot around it would be great. I have always loved the architecture and especially admired Arthur Erickson who I briefly worked for during a summer off of university. I suggested it to my sister one morning and off we went with the kids. We won't mention how a security guard came up to us and politely asked us not to skip rocks in the water as the entire exterior pond was an art display. Oops!

i see france ...

My Europe trip continues onto Paris where I took the Eurostar down for a day. It was definitely a short but sweet trip! It is surprising how much one can see and get done when you know there is only 9 hours to do it. It was just me and my camera walking around the city, and walking I did! I think the funniest thing I saw was when I walked down a quiet street in the 7th arrondissement and I came across an outdoor cafe with toasters on each table outside. Can you say fire hazard? (see third photo from bottom). The weather was perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed my summer day in Paris!

eiffel tower | paris 2011

I've been to Paris a number of times, so a trip is not complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. This structure just blows my mind each time I go there. The shear greatness of it can be felt as soon as you stand directly below and look up (photo no.3). I didn't have time to walk or take the elevator up due to the horrendous line-ups on this beautiful summer day, but I took it all in with my camera (and a gelato ;-)). I think a large canvas will have to be printed out with one of these images. What is your favorite?

jonah + samuel | granville island - vancouver, bc

Jen and I met over 13 years ago (has it been that long?) while we both were working at a multimedia company in Vancouver. We became fast friends and throughout the years have kept in touch even though I moved to NYC and she moved to New Zealand. We luckily realized (via Facebook of all places) that we both were heading to Vancouver with our kids at the same time this summer so she asked me to photograph her darling little boys and mum down in Granville Island. I think the photos turned out fabulous despite the poor guys just getting off a 17 hour flight and dealing with brutal jet leg and colds. I hope you are all rested up now and enjoying the rest of your west coast summer!
