weekend | personal

You know that saying that the best camera to have is the one that's with you. Well I proved that point this weekend while down in DC with the family. I didn't have it in me to carry my big camera around all weekend so I kept it in the hotel and instead just went throughout the day with my trusty iphone while Instagramming a few favorites. I'm so glad I did because I got some great "real" shots that I probably wouldn't have captured with my other camera.

williamsburg | brooklyn, ny

It's often nice to step out of your regular genre of photography to explore something different. I recently took part in a photography and instagram workshop with Chris Ozer. The backdrop was a loft in Williamsburg as well as a walking photo tour throughout Brooklyn. The city sure looked beautiful that day despite the dark clouds and misty fog.

sunday suppers | brooklyn, ny

I've been following Sunday Suppers for a few years now and once I saw that Chris Ozer was holding a workshop in the space, I quickly signed up. The gorgeous loft in Williamsburg is the creation of Karen Mordechai who is a photographer and stylist. She started Sunday Suppers which she describes as a class-cooking-dining experience, pairing friends and food. The space and food that she serves is gorgeous as well as delicious. Stay tuned for the the actual photos that I took from the workshop ..

spring in central park | personal

There is nothing more I like to do then jump in the car and head into the city for an impromptu day in the city. Our family can't walk by a Gray's Papaya without stopping in for a delicious drink of papaya juice (and maybe a hot dog or two for a certain 9 year old). Then a walk through Central Park to look at all of the beautiful spring flowers in bloom, a trip to the Guggenheim to check out the Gutai exhibit and then lunch on the Upper East Side. Finally spring has sprung!

mexico, part three | personal

Our travels took us to a very interesting island called Isla Mujeres. From a crazy 30-minute fast ferry you land on the island and rent a golf cart to boot around on the the dusty dirt roads. We visited a turtle farm on the ocean, swam with dolphins, found the most amazing brunch cafe (go Trip Advisor!) and hung out at public beach club where you rent a chair and enjoy the pools and ocean (along with fresh lobster tacos and ice cold beers).  We enjoyed our day there so much that a few days later we decided to head back to explore more nooks and crannies of the island.  It was definitely an incredible place to see.
