smartie cookies

When Auntie Jane sends Smarties down to us below the 49th parallel we savior them and try to make them last. Today we decided baking was in order so we pulled out a box and whipped up our favorite chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Delish!

birthday boy

My little dude turned four this weekend and we had a very small "super-hero" party for him and a few of his friends. It was a perfect party to have -- jumpy castle in the basement (best EVER $100 investment we made 5 years ago), pass the present game (was this just a Canadian party game because no one ever knows what it is when I pull it out at parties), a blow-up Spiderman (don't get me started on this one -- talk to my husband), pizza, cupcakes and tattoos. Heaven to the four-year-old-set. Now time to start planning a certain almost 7-year old girl's birthday party next weekend. Remind me, whose idea was it to have two birthdays 7 days apart??

celebration #1

I call January "birthday month" because we have two important birthdays a week apart from each other. When asked what kind of birthday party he would like this year, of course it didn't surprise us when he blurted out "a Super Hero Party". Gone is Thomas, gone is Diego, gone is Handy Manny. Now it is all about the Avengers, Spiderman, and IronMan. Bring on the balloons, pizza and cake!

merry christmas

After all the running around for the past month, the night is finally here. The Xmas Eve dinner has been eaten, the wrapping is done, the stockings are hung, the luminaries are lit, the cookies n' milk are put out, the letter to Santa has been written, the Christmas Morning Wife Saver has been prepared and awaiting to be baked in the morning, the reindeer food as been left on the lawn for Rudolph and his buddies. Let Christmas begin... To all my clients, friends and blog readers, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Hope your day is magical!

it's beginning to look a lot like ...

As I looked around our house today I realized I wanted to capture some memories of how we are getting ready for Christmas. Yesterday, the kids and I got our "craft on" and made the pom-pom wreath. Ideally I wanted to create a felt one but the craft store didn't sell any so we had to settle for old-school pom-poms. The advent calendar is a big hit each morning as is "elf on the shelf" and the Playmobil nativity scene . The tree is decorated and we are all ready!

bowling | chatham, nj family photographer

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids bowling at our local bowling alley. It was J's first time so it made it extra special and funny to watch him try to pick up a big heavy ball and maneuver it down the lane. The other funny thing is how I managed to beat "the king" even when the kiddy bumpers were up. Umm, just saying...
