halloween '09

This years Halloween festivities were lots of fun but mom and dad are glad it is over ;-) As you can see we have no pictures of Jack in his "fighter pilot" costume because it was a bit of a "chore" to actually get him in it. By the actual Trick or Treatin' night he did manage to get in it (with a lolly bribe) but by that time, I forgot all about the camera and just wanted to enjoy the night. Molly made a smashing "Madeline" but will have to rethink the wearing of a wig for next year. Just "too itchy". Untitled-1 IMG_2398 Untitled-2 IMG_1297 IMG_1500

new england mini-break

We went on a little mini-break up to New England. We stayed in Watch Hill, Rhode Island and then did day trips to Mystic, CT and Newport, RI. Visiting the Mystic Aquarium was a highlight because the kids were able to get up close and personal to view the three giant beluga whales along with lots of other sea lions, penguins, and other sea creatures.A few times I made D stop the car as we were driving because the views of all the fall foliage was out of this world.

autumn is here, finally

We had a fantastic time out at the pumpkin patch the other day. We went on a tractor ride up through the valley, picked out some pumpkins in the pumpkin field, ate cider donuts, played in the corn maze and bought our all time favorite -- honeycrisp apples. Fall is definitely in the air! 1 IMG_4508 IMG_4449 2 IMG_4531 3 IMG_4544

the end of the summer

The summer came to a quick end a couple of weeks ago. This was our fourth summer down in the Outerbanks where we had lots of fun swimming, eating, doing jigsaw puzzles and relaxing. Thought I better get these photos up before the leaves start changing and falling to the ground. My favorite time of year! IMG_3355 IMG_3149 duo1 mosaic1 IMG_3199 IMG_3528

a whole lot of "firsts"

This week has been chalk-filled with "firsts". Molly lost your first tooth the eve of kindergarten which was a big deal in our household. Of course the tooth fairy made a magical appearance. Then the next morning she started her kindergarten which couldn't have come soon enough for her. A few days later Jack started his first day of nursery school. He lucked out because his new classroom is Molly's old classroom from last year so he is very familiar with it, especially all the toys! tooth school IMG_4236 stanley IMG_4261
